Agents: Decision Made
Thanks to everyone for their thoughtful feedback and opinions concerning my agent dilemma. I made a decision a few days after the post but have been so busy that I haven't had the chance to give you an update.
There were merits to both agencies but ultimately I ended up deciding to give the new agency a try. The deciding factor was that my new agency (though not much bigger than the old) is much better known in the industry. For a regular working actor, that can make a big difference.
As I've said in the past, this town is all about relationships. Because time is so short, casting directors will quite often only look at submissions from agents and agencies they know and trust. Even if I'm making a submission myself, having a well-known agency's name on my headshot gives me a much better chance of getting an audition.
The way I figure it, I really don't have a lot to lose. After all, I wasn't getting a large number of auditions through my old agent. Did I make the right choice? Time will tell but I'm certainly not going to just sit around and wait in the meantime.
