An Actor's Journey

What does it mean to be an actor? How do actors do what they do? How do they deal with the frustrations and rejections? This is the story of my personal experiences in Los Angeles. Along the way I'll share what I've learned.

Down the Drain

Water and money go down the drainThis morning, after getting back from the gym and having breakfast with my family, I went upstairs to my home office. I needed a shower pretty badly (even the neighbor two houses down was complaining) but I wanted to check my email, a couple news sites, blah, blah, blah.

One thing turned into another and by 9:30, I was still working on the computer. Realizing this, I got up, went into the bathroom and started the shower. It takes a minute or so to warm up so I went back to the office for a moment. And then the phone rang.

After a moment or two of deciding what to do, I answered it. It'd probably be a quick call. Nope, it's a graphic design client of mine who works for the local power company. We've been missing each other's calls, have a bad phone connection and he's crunched for time -- so I couldn't put him "on hold." Dang.

So, as we go over the project, I can hear the gallons of hot water slipping down the drain in my bathroom. My mind wandered for a moment and I couldn't help realizing that, while I was on the phone with the power company, I was wasting electricity as electrically-heated hot water went down the drain. Talk about borrowing from Peter to pay Paul.

Now, if I could just get the water company to hire me, I guess I could come out even...

Comments

There are no comments here. This is bad. Everyone needs comments. Comments make the day go better. I'm doing my part to make you feel better...about using all that electricity and water.
