Making the Most of a Rainy Day
It's one of those rare rainy days here in Southern California and as such, the roads are a mess and filled with crazier-than-usual drivers. As luck would have it, I needed to be out in the thick of it. I just got back from an audition and a meeting with one of my acting coaches.
The audition was for Onstar and I was up for the role of "guy in truck" -- a brave soul calling his wife amidst wildfires that had knocked out communications in the area -- except for that of his Onstar system. With the rain, I expected the actor turnout to be light. Not so. The waiting room was filled with outdoors-type guys -- in varying degrees of ruggedness. The audition went well (the CD seemed to enjoy what I did) and I was in and out fairly quickly. Being a bit wet probably helped everyone really connect with the outdoors thing.
I had a good meeting with my coach as well. We discussed representation and worked on a couple scenes from a pilot that's being done for Lifetime. A productive use of the time.
As I was in the vicinity already, I did some headshot drop-offs at nearby casting director offices. Because of the downpour, I almost skipped the dropoffs but figured "If I'm going to be out in this kind of weather, I might as well make it worthwhile!"
