Sticking to Your Vision
"They (the studio heads) thought the script (of Patton) was really unusual. Specifically annoying to them was the opening which started with Patton getting in front of an imaginary regiment as a four-star general in front of a big flag and making this speech.
The point I want to make is that, the things that you get fired over or that they hate or they put you down for or they ridicule you for, these are the very things that, 30 years later, that they acclaim and say that they admire. You have to know that."
-- Francis Ford Coppola, producer, writer and director of films like Apocalypse Now, Peggy Sue Got Married, Bram Stoker's Dracula, and The Godfather Trilogy.
Wow. So true and insightful. You know I hear sometimes from people I know about traits they admire in me. Traits I've been trying to change because I thought they were negative traits. Then one day I realized they weren't negative traits at all. They are what make me me. You just have to direct it in a positive way.
Ahhh...but don't you just love Coppola. He's one of my faves.

Thank goodness for the dreamers and the "crazy artists."
